“Accomplishing visions together as a whole.”
The MICA Group leverages our connections with government, private philanthropy, NGOs, and mission-aligned businesses to achieve tribal goals.
In 2015, MICA conducted a survey of 130 Tribal Nations in the lower 48 states for our $10 million Cultural Resource Fund Project. The Tribes told us their three top priorities were: 1) language revitalization, 2) protecting their sacred and cultural places (many of which are now on public lands), and 3) revitalization of traditional cultural practices. Since 2015, MICA’s work has focused on these three areas.
We seek solutions for tribal priorities through equitable, innovative, sustainable, and culturally appropriate strategies. We use our contacts to make connections, find the best experts worldwide to meet project needs, propose and develop partnerships, and raise funds for tribal priorities. We now work with over 300 tribes. Our ability to work with tribes centers on the relationships our board and staff have developed and nurtured over many years. Our leadership has worked in Congress, all levels of government, private philanthropy, and as tribal and community leaders. We excel at partnerships with government at all levels, with private philanthropy, and with industry when tribes believe it is in their interest.
